🔍 How we test and rate AI tools
Who rates here
This radar is kept by one person, not an anonymous desk: Allen Chour, who writes the daily aban news newsletter about AI. I use these tools myself, test new features or check them specifically for the German-speaking market. When I haven't worked with a tool enough, I flag it internally as "to check" and hold back the claims — you only see what's solid.
The two ratings you see
Worth-it score (0–10): Is the tool worth its price for what it promises? Everyday usefulness, maturity, stability and value for money go in here. We rate in half steps (e.g. 7.5/10), no fake decimal precision.
DACH relevance (0–10): How well does the tool fit the German-speaking market? German language quality, EU/GDPR fit, EUR pricing and support all count. A globally strong tool can rank lower here if its German is half-hearted.
Where the data comes from
- My own use and targeted checks of the tools.
- Newsletter coverage: tools covered in issues are flagged and link back to the archive.
- Official vendor pages for pricing, plans and feature scope — prices change, so every tool page carries a "last checked" date.
What the ratings are not
They are not lab measurements or star averages from user votes. They are a reasoned judgement — transparent, but subjective. Read the pros/cons and the hands-on note, not just the number.
Money does not change the order
Some links are affiliate links (marked *). Whether a tool has an affiliate program affects neither score nor placement. Tools without commission can rank on top. More on the partner page.
